EVENT FAQS

What sort of events does QPWN organise?

QPWN offers regular events which include: monthly networking opportunities, a variety of workshops for professional and personal development, and special events featuring keynote speakers and panel discussions.  All events are for women only and are alcohol-free in respect of local culture.

Who attends QPWN events?

A diverse group of women attend our events, representing all different nationalities, professions, ages and backgrounds.   Women who are unemployed or looking for work are welcome to attend our events.  Newcomers to Qatar are also welcome to attend our events.  Our only requirement is that you are a woman!

How do I find out about upcoming events?

All of our events are publicized on this website, as well as through our monthly newsletter (you can sign up at the left side), Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. We do our best to publicize our events at least one month in advance, but we encourage you to follow our social media channels to keep up to date with the latest event announcements.

How do I RSVP to attend events?

For monthly networking events, unless otherwise specified, you don't need to RSVP your attendance, but we do appreciate Facebook or LinkedIn RSVPs to give us a general estimate of numbers.  If we do specify the need for RSVPs, we will provide an email address for RSVPs in the event announcement and we will not accept RSVPs through our social media channels.

For workshops and all other special events, we require RSVPs to secure your attendance at the workshop or special event and we will provide an email address for RSVPs in the event announcement.

What do I need to know about attending the monthly networking events?

  • Our monthly networking events take place every 4th Monday of the month (except Dec) between 6-8 p.m. at various locations around Doha. Locations are usually released about a month in advance via our newsletter and posted on our website, Facebook page, LinkedIn group and Twitter.
  • You do not need to RSVP unless we specify to do so, but we do appreciate Facebook or LinkedIn RSVPs to give us a general estimate of numbers. 
  • You come and go based what works for you. You can arrive late/leave early/leave late- whatever suits your busy schedule. 
  • These events are informal and designed to help you network- sometimes we have a speaker, sometimes we play a networking game, sometimes we enjoy plain ol’ networking. We always have fun! 

What should I wear and bring with me to QPWN events?

We ask our event participants to dress in culturally-appropriate business attire (local dress or professional attire that covers your chest, shoulders and knees.).  We recommend you bring your business or contact cards with you to all of our events.   We also recommend that you bring your own pen and notepad to workshops and speaker events as we do not provide pens and paper to attendees.

What are the costs of attending QPWN events?

Prices for QPWN events vary, depending on the venue provider’s approach to the catering.  When we post a cost for an event, this is what the venue provider is charging for a set menu of food and drink, payable at the door of the event to the venue provider themselves (not to QPWN).  When we do not post a cost for an event, this means that the event is “pay-for-what-you-consume,” so you pay for whatever you order from their menu.  Please note that QPWN does not make any money off of our events-- we are strictly volunteer- run and, when we have an expense, we pay for it out of our own individual personal funds for the benefit of the greater good.

Some of our workshop providers or speakers choose to charge a small fee for their workshops/speech.  The fee is always listed in the event announcement and attendees pay the workshop provider or speaker directly upon arrival at the event.  Again, QPWN does not make any money off of our workshops or speaker events.

How do I contact you about a give-away for your events?

We do not permit give-aways at our events, unless they are provided by the venue providers themselves.


How do I contact you about publicizing my event to your members?

We do not publicize other groups’ events or news on our website or via our newsletter, but we permit you to publicize your event yourself on our Facebook wall or LinkedIn group.
