WHAT IS QPWN?

Qatar Professional Women’s Network (QPWN) is an informal networking group for Qatari and expatriate professional women. QPWN was launched by several professional women living and working in Doha. QPWN aims to support the development and advancement of women and contribute to the sustainability of the local community by:
 

• Helping its members expand their networks,
• Refine their professional capabilities, and
• Benefit from cross-cultural sharing.

QPWN is an informal network, supported solely by volunteers, and is not associated with any business, educational institution or non-profit organization.  QPWN does not generate any revenue given its informal status. Please see “About QPWN” for more details.

HOW DID QPWN BEGIN?

In February 2010, American expat Christina Zini organized a meeting with a small group of professional women to discuss the establishment of a professional women’s network. After a few initial planning meetings, the founding members launched QPWN with a monthly e-newsletter, website and social media communities and hosted its first networking event in May 2010. Its formal launch event, featuring speeches by several prominent women leaders, was held in December 2010 with over 200 attendees and members of the press.

HOW IS QPWN ORGANISED?

The QPWN Core Planning Team is comprised of 18-20 Qatari and expat professional women, most of whom work full-time jobs in addition to volunteering their time and talents to QPWN.  Please see “Our Team” for more details.

WHAT ARE YOUR ACTIVITIES?

QPWN offers regular events, which include networking, workshops, keynote speakers and panel discussions. We have a standing after-work informal networking event every 4th Monday of the month (except December) from 6-8 p.m. at different venues around Doha. Please see “Events” for more details on our upcoming events and event-specific FAQ’s.

We also facilitate a mentoring ring called Circle of Pearl to pair students and those new to the workforce with more seasoned professionals for mentoring and cross-cultural collaboration. Please see “Circle of Pearl” for more details on this programme.

WHO CAN BECOME A MEMBER OF QPWN AND HOW?

QPWN is open to any woman regardless of nationality, profession, age, or educational background, including students, freelancers and part-time workers. Women who are currently not working outside the home and would like to maintain their professional network and skills are also welcome to join QPWN.  Becoming a member is easy- no application forms, no membership fees. The only requirement to join is that you are a woman! Please see “Become a Member” to join QPWN.
